My areas of interest included the philosophy of emotion, philosophy of mind, value theories, ethics, and aesthetics. In terms of style, I preferred and am accustomed to analytic philosophy.

My thesis title was “Emotion as a Network of Multiple Components”. In this dissertation, I argued that the prototype of emotions is a process that involves four different elements-feelings, bodily changes, evaluative contents, and action tendencies. The sequence of those elements is not fixed. The interactions among the elements are not one-to-one. The interactions are bi-directional rather than one way. I argued that these features are best captured by the term ‘network’.

My dissertation was an interdisciplinary project that required the study of literature from various fields such as psychology, neuroscience, medicine, biology, and philosophy. Consequently, this project made me familiar with the literature and methodologies of these fields.

Master of Arts: Philosophy(Aesthetics) 02/2012

Seoul National University in Seoul, South Korea (GPA: 3.92/4.3)

I took various classes, including symbolic logic, philosophy of mind, emotions, philosophy of the arts (covering music, painting, literature, media, and theatre), and psychoanalysis (Lacan).

My thesis title was ‘The Puzzle of Imaginative Resistance: Hume and His 20th Century Reception.’ In this work, I explore a puzzling phenomenon where we have difficulty in imagining fictional worlds that we take to morally deviant, whereas it is faily easy to imagine worlds in which there are factual errors.

Bachelor of Arts : Philosophy (Aesthetics) 02/2008
